5 Wedding vendors to hire right after you get engaged
May 15, 2019
Let’s look at the 5 vendors you should hire right after you get engaged. No need to be rushing out and booking everything but these 5 vendors are essential to having your dream wedding.
Your wedding venue- Do you have a dream venue in mind? Is this venue a popular wedding spot? Consider hiring this portion first. Remember, they are only so many Saturdays in a year. If you are picky about your date or time of year you want for your wedding, consider booking the venue as soon as you can. A booked venue will all set you up for the perfect time line for the rest of the things you would need to do next.
Wedding photographer should be next on your agenda. A great wedding photographer will book out a year or so in advance. Getting great wedding photos of your big day should be an essential part of your decision making. I know wedding photographers that are booked up to two years in advance. Get on it and book your wedding photographer.
Wedding ceremony- Another venue should be your ceremony location. If your wedding venue does not come with a ceremony location or you are considering a church, you need to think about booking it sooner than later. Some churches are extremely popular and even if they may have your wedding date available, they may not have the right time. They could have a 1pm opening (which could be too early) or a 6pm opening which could be too late.
Wedding DJs can also book up fast. Some DJs now have multiple people under their businesses but you want to ensure you get the best DJ. Remember- an awesome ambiance, Great food and amazing music makes for a great wedding. Ensure your DJ is professional and can play music that is played at a wedding and not the club.
A wedding planner- Most couples do not consider hiring a wedding planner as part of the plan. Are you a busy bride with a hectic job schedule, do you have time to meet vendors during the day on a week day? Are you able to get all the connections that a wedding planner can bring to you? Hire a wedding planner to help you with all your small details, including organizing the day so you can relax.
Once you have decided on your reception and ceremony location and have a good idea of what “style” wedding you are looking for – Do you want a rustic wedding? A romantic style wedding? Do you have your colours picked yet? Do you need ceremony decor or a backdrop for your reception? Once you have a good idea of your vision and what decor you need, I would recommend booking your decor and floral consultations. You don’t need to know exactly what you are looking for but having an idea of what you like really helps and then your decorator can suggest ideas for you!
We have several reasons why we recommend hiring a professional for any of your events.
Time and time again, we hear couples saying “I have a friend that can DJ for us”, or “I have someone from my workplace that is trying to be a photographer and we have seen what she can do. We will ask her to take photos on the day”. Does this wedding photographer experienced and has all the proper lighting equipment? Will they spend hours editing your wedding photos? What if that DJ plays the wrong song while you are walking down the aisle? Too late!
